    Hi

I tried emdr on myself to help me process "in the moment" a situation in which I knew I was likely to "space" out. I had tried emdr on myself a couple of times before, but on two out of three occasions had gotten stuck with bad images and feelings (I know I know, that's why you don't do it on yourself...)

Anyway, it seemed to help this last time to the extent that I did NOT space out and I was able to respond more quickly and effectively within the situation (a medical emergency).

Perhaps what I accomplished was more the result of meditation than emdr, I don't know. But since that occasion, when I have had to deal with similar situations I do not get "stuck" anymore.

It's a huge change and feels very strange... as if I keep expecting to hit a very familiar pothole and don't any more.

Guess I am just wondering what happened? I know you can't comment on the specifics but is this basically how emdr works... it is several months later and I am still a bit astounded by the "road repair". :) Never experienced anything else quite like this.

    Thanks!
