It's not unusual for people to apparently access preverbal states in EMDR, if that's an age that needs resolution. In general (not specific to you but to people in general), this kind of early work causes people to feel quite vulnerable, so its good to have good ego strength and inner resources in place, as well as a trusting relationship with a therapist. Naturally, if we feel like we are at a very very young, even infantile, age while processing, and if there was trauma at that age, the feelings can be quite overwhelming. This is because the infant or young child had either no or insufficient ego to buffer or frame the experience. The feeling can be of fear of annihilation or other very intense experience. This experience can be manageable if older adaptive parts of self (positive resources) are accessible and "looking through the eyes" at the same time.
