there are some emdr tapes for use at home "calm and confident" is one. I don't know how laypeople get them - I've bought them at conferences. There are CDs or audiocassettes with bilateral tones on them that therapists use you could also try tapping on your cat, bilaterally. left and right sides, in quick succession. I am not sure how well the cat will like it - maybe petting it on left and right sides would be better - but I dont know if it would be any harder than trying to have a cat let you put headphones by it's ears. For that matter I suppose you could try eye movements with the cat, using a toy or string or something. Except the cat will keep wanting to take it and play with it maybe.
