I have heard of this happening before for two individuals who referred to themselves as "we" and had "parts". In those cases it was much as you described -- that a part or parts wanted to continue the EMDR work because there was material that needed to be released, and they were trying to do it on their own. Without commenting on your specific experience, headaches related to EMDR processing often are a sign of internal ambivalence, that one parts wants to go forward and one part is reluctant. Working with a therapist that knows how to work with parts as well as using EMDR may be a good next step once budget permits. Some people, but not all by any means, can manage internal dialogue to resolve internal disputes via journaling or drawing or other means.
