M.C.,
I would argue that the critics (e.g., Brian G) are speaking from experience, research and from their hearts and someone with a clear pro-EMDR agenda goes on the attack under the guise of scientific enlightenment (and motivated by financial interest and face saving). To a layperson it would make sense that EMDR seems like a good thing, you have a number of bright and well educated professionals and pseudo-professionals saying that they have seen EMDR work, you have a gross distortion of a body of literature that when interpreted conveniently appears to support EMDR, and on a board like this- in sharp contrast to the field as a whole- you have pro-EMDR people in the major majority so that it sounds as though critics are rare.
Sincerely,
Don
