This question came up at a staffing the other day on a child who is going back into a home where there is domestic violence issues. He was placed in various foster homes for a few months, and all of the disruptions have been very traumatic for him. A therapist recommended EMDR, but no one knew if it was a good idea to pursue this for him with the high risk of the trauma continuing, as well as revictimization. Of course DSS feels he is safe and not at imminent risk of further damage FOR NOW. His situation changes all the time though. I guess we want to be sure to pursue it if he can possibly benefit even in the face of new and ongoing trauma. Any thoughts on this? Teresa
