I have just had my first visit with a psychologist who, by the end of the session, suggested trying EMDR. Needless to say I am trying to find out as much information on this type of therapy before making a decision. What are the potential negative effects, if any? How many sessions does a typical treatment take to complete? Will I eventually return to my negative way of thinking anyway? Is the process itself uncomfortable to go through? I have ordered a few books on the subject but any professional or first hand experience would be helpful.
