Dear Folks. Has anyone had any experience in helping such a young person understand the concept of "body memory"? This young one is very deprived of vocabulary and experience (she was kept in her room to be used by her father at his pleasure). It seems to her that "he is here now" in what had been a safe place (my office) and "touching" her and hurting her head. (It appears to be her having to perform oral sex on him since the host felt afterward that she couldn't breathe and was being smothered.) No matter how hard I tried to explain to her that it was "before" and not "now", because it felt so real to her in the moment, she felt I was not understanding her, and the memory could not be resolved. Has anyone done EMDR under these circumstances? How? HELP!
