Many EMDR clinicians prefer that the referring clinician sit in for the clients benefit. Often the primary clinician gains useful insight from the processing and the client feels more comfortable with their longterm therapist present. The primary goal is for you to feel comfortable with whatever clinician you choose. There are over 30,000 trained and each have different comfort levels and specialties. A list is available from the EMDR Institute (inst@emdr.com). However, you do need to interview until you find someone who is experienced and comfortable with your problem.
