I have a 14 year old son that started eight grade today. We have been experiencing these problems since fourth grade. He becomes so anxious about going to school, he shakes, hyperventilates and crys uncontrollably. This usually lasts for about 3 hours off and on. He gets calm trys to go to class and its starts all over again. I do not know of any specific traumatic incidences in his life, other than the fact that my dad, his grandfather was diagnosed with Colon cancer 3 years ago. I am a social worker and of course I always imagine that other things may have happened that I don't know about, he denies this. I have talked with someone that has taken her son to a therapist that used EMDR and it worked wonders but I not sure exactly what the traumatic event is that may have started his problems. We have been to three therapists, two pyschiatrists, used over 6 different medications and I don't know what to do next. HELP!!!!!!
