The history you are describing is one of both abuse and neglect. You should interview fully trained EMDR therapists in your area who are comfortable with your background and knowledgable about the use of the EMDR resource development and installation protocol and the cognitive interweaves. There is a gentler and easier way to use EMDR that your clinician might not have known about.
