You need to speak directly to your clinician of your concerns. One session is not sufficient for a longstanding memory of this sort. A thorough history taking and preparation is important--as is a clinician who is thoroughly trained in EMDR and familiar with your complaints. Again, it is also important not to assume that one session is sufficient.
William Zangwill is a clinical psychologist in NYC. He coordinates an EMDR Network of clinicians and can advise you, or your clinician, directly: 212/663-2989
