The application of EMDR with child victims spans a wide range of symptoms patterns. It is not necessary for your son to see or admit to any connections or concerns to have successful results. Sometimes children simply do not want to talk about the problems. With EMDR it is not necessary and since the effects are generally quite rapid with single trauma the results validate themselves. Don't worry about the exact diagnosis. The issue is whether or not there was an experiential contributor. Simply make sure that the clinician you choose is fully trained in EMDR and comfortable in working with children.
