I have a client who has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. She had a psychotic episode about 6 years ago and has ups and downs in depression since then. Recently she has become very anxious, feeling that people are rude to her, that her sister is watching her and that she can actually feel her sister coming down the road. She often leaves her house and goes and sits in a book store until she thinks her sister has gone to bed. A couple of weeks ago she was almost psychotic again. Our psychiatrist wants to put her on Zyprexa, but she absolutely refuses to take medication. She has a history of trauma, including being molested as a child, a date rape, her father's suicide and a long term abusive relationship. In trying to find some way to help her without medication, I was wondering if EMDR might work. I have a relationship with a very experienced practitioner. Thanks for any information you can give me.
