I have a current client with PTSD from 2 terrible boating accidents resulting in physical disability, with good premorbid adjustment; i.e. a good candidate for EMDR, which I am using with him. However, his personality style is obsessive (in fact the historical literature on the anal personality fits him to a T ): he is detail oriented, a neat freak, rigid, slightly paranoid and obsessive. So when I do EMDR with him he has to process every single little detail ad infinitum such that after two 1 and 1/2 hour sessions we have not gotten to a single end of a memory channel. He is not clinically obsessive in day to day life as far as I know. Any suggestions?
