I believe that each client would be unique. However, I'm not surprised that she would prefer the handtaps. We have had no negative feedback with this group, but I'm sure the fear of strobing visual feedback would itself be uncomfortable.
A good resource for work with this population is a clinician in Berkeley by the name of Sheila Krystal. She is on the EMDR Institute facilitator list, and has made a presentation at one of the EMDRIA conferences which is available on audiotape.
