Borderline Personality Disorder

I have been in therapy for six years and have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. My therapist recently suggested that I try EMDR treatment with a trained clinician. I have been reading a lot about EMDR, but have not come across anything relative to how it works with Borderline issues. I have two questions: 1) Can you give me any information about how EMDR works with severe abandonment issues and Borderline personality? 2) My therapist does not use hypnosis with me because I regress to a child ego state so easily. Is EMDR a better tool than hpynosis for those of us who have difficulty staying in an adult ego state?
