    Dementia/Borderline intelligence and EMDR
Mary J. Harrell, LCSW · 06/06/00 at 11:31 PM ET

I am wondering about the usage of EMDR with individuals who may have some cognitive dysfunction. I have a gentleman who may have some early stage dementia who is also have combat flashbacks on a daily basis. I would like to do EMDR with him.

I also have some young individuals who have a borderline intelligence or lower with abuse histories. I am wondering if there cognitive status would impede the processing.

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.
