I was diagnosed with OCD this past fall, and my clinician is using EMDR therapy to try to help me get over my symptoms. I have been reading the EMDR book by Francine Shapiro to help me better understand the origins of EMDR therapy and it's evolution. The book is wonderful. My question is about the use of EMDR to treat OCD. Is this a diagnosis in which EMDR has had much success treating? I am very hopeful. I have had a few sessions of EMDR as well as traditional "talk" therapy. I am also taking a low dose of an SRI. My symptoms seem much more in remission and I am not sure which part of my treatment to credit. It may be a combination, but I am in hope that the EMDR plays a large portion in my recovery so that maybe the root causes of my OCD can be resolved and possibly help me to move on with my life. I am still in the process of doing EMDR therapy, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it's use with OCD. Thank You.
