It's not all that uncommon for kids to lie to their therapists. Just as they may lie to their parents, teachers, or friends. This is not an issue specific to therapy in which EMDR was done, and there is no reason for special concern on that account. The important thing is to get the therapy back on track. If the girl is willing to tell the therapist the truth and work with the therapist on a more honest basis, perhaps some good will still come of it. If she lied because she does not like or trust the therapist, and if this can't be resolved, she may be unable to get much done with this therapist. Again, this issue is not specific to EMDR, but to therapy in general: you can't work well with someone you don't trust. If the girl is in therapy for trauma-related issues, it is probably a good idea for her to have a therapist who is trained to use EMDR. However, the therapy alliance has to be established before the trauma work can be done.
