Hi, sorry to hear you have had such trouble. I'm Dr. Paulsen, and Dr. Shapiro has asked me to fill in for her on this forum while she is travelling. I can't tell what the issues are that occurred for you, and this forum isn't a good place to have such a conversation. We can't do clinical work here, we can only talk about EMDR in general. I think you need to seek a second opinion from a qualified mental health professional you can trust. If you want a non-EMDR professional, you can get a referral from your state's psychological, social work, counseling, or psychiatric association. If you want an EMDR qualified professional, you can get such a name from the EMDR International Association, and their website is www.emdria.org. No one should ever be required to undertake EMDR if they feel unwilling or unready to undergo such work. All EMDR trained professionals are instructed to walk the client through an appropriate informed consent procedure. That informed consent procedure typically includes making sure the client understands that there may be some temporary discomfort that may occur during the EMDR processing. I hope you find the answers you are seeking as to what happened during your EMDR work. Warm Regards - Dr. Paulsen
