James Pretzer received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Michigan State University and completed post-doctoral training in Cognitive Therapy with Aaron T. Beck, MD at the University of Pennsylvania. Jim currently is a partner in Behavioral Health Associates, Inc. where he directs the Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy and provides consultation and training in Cognitive Therapy in addition to maintaining an active clinical practice. He also is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the CWRU School of Medicine and is a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Jim previously served as an Assistant Professor in the CWRU Department of Family Medicine. Jim has worked actively to advance the practice of Cognitive Therapy and has presented his work at meetings of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy, and the World Congress of Cognitive Therapy. He is a co-author of Clinical Applications of Cognitive Therapy (with Art Freeman, Barbara Fleming, and Karen Simon) and of Cognitive Therapy of Personality Disorders (with Aaron Beck, Art Freeman, and Associates) as well as a number of journal articles and book chapters.
