A relatively straightforward association maybe, however the population I work with (clinical psychologist) are over 65 years and the adjustment that is of concern/interest is in the adjustment to role transitions on the occassion of the spouse with dementia (in most cases) being placed in full time long term residential care. The affective responses include guilt, grief, depression, remorse, regret; the situational factors include change in roles, more people now involved in their lives knowing more about them than they might like to share voluntarily, needing to be assertive and advocate for their spouse to strangers who superficially hold the power base etc etc etc. Literature checks identify some limited references to this transitional, but I am also looking for more. Not only for my work but to begin my doctoral thesis on this topic in 2004. Regards in anticipation.
