The August, 2001 edition of Cognitive Therapy and Research is a Special Issue on "The Developmental Antecedents of Cognitive Vulnerability to Depression." CT has been criticised as not paying enough attention to the etiology of depressive cognition. This Special Issue does a good job of remedying this. It includes: The Developmental Origins of Cognitive Vulnerability to Depression: Negative Interpersonal Context Leads to Personal Vulnerability by Lauren B. Alloy Predictors of Depressive Cognitions in Young Adolescents by Judy Garber and Cynthia Flynn Social Origins of Depressive Cognitions: A Longitudinal Study of Self-Perceived Competence in Children by David A. Cole, Farrah M. Jacquez, and Tracy L. Maschman Developmental Origins of Cognitive Vulnerability to Depression: Parenting, Cognitive, and Inferential Feedback Styles of Parents of Individuals at High and Low Risk for Depression by Lauren B. Alloy, et al History of Childhood Maltreatment, Negative Cognitive Styles, and Episodes of Depression in Adulthood by Brandon E. Gibb, et al Developmental and Social-Contextual Origins of Depressive Control-Related Beliefs and Behavior by Karen D. Rudolph, Kathryn D. Kurlakowsky, and Colleen S. Conley Intimacy in Relationships and Cognitive Vulnerability to Depression in Adolescent Girls by Susan Williams, Jennifer Connoly, and Zindel V.
