How do you use CBT with a client who appears to present with non-specific rituals? Also, who is extremely reluctant to discuss the details of their intrusive thoughts in case they come true from being said aloud. The client has intrusive daily thoughts which - I think - are around suffering and death of certain family members but the subsequent compulsive behaviours frequently change. They seem to focus around 'good luck' and 'bad luck', eg. picking the 'correct' tin of beans in the I am a confused first year student and would greatly appreciate some ideas - thanks.
supermarket or wrapping presents the 'correct' way - also re-writing cards, pushing objects, wearing good/bad luck clothes, eating 2 biscuits instead of 3 - they can change daily.
