Re:A Vexing Practice Issue

I personally dont observe many gong ho, demasculating women anymore. That is what I meant when I said it evens out. The initial backlash of women standing up for themselves was necessarily harsh, and did become demasculating for a while. Today I think things have evened out a lot. The men are much less discriminating beasts, and the women are much less demasculating matrons.

Although I agree with you on some of your points above and try to be optimistic, I think it was un necessarily harsh. Most of the men whom such women take out their anti male angst on were most likely not the people who caused the injustices against women. Women are mad at what men did fifty years ago. I as most men under fifty had nothing to do with creating the injustice. Just as you would not feel responsible for what slave-owners did over 100 years ago.

I’ll bet you that the men who suffered the most were the men who loved and cared about the women who were hurting them, were young, believed in feminism at one time and were actually supportive and encouraging of the women in their lives advancing their careers, bettering themselves, not feeling threatened by women climbing the ladder, etc. I also don’t agree that feminist women have stopped hating living men for what men (most of whom are dead) did long ago. People don’t change that quickly; if such women went through many years of university, also of towing the feminist line, etc, it takes a very very long time to become “un brainwashed”. You may have changed, but it will take the masses generations for what you call an “evening out”.

Whatever “evens out”, I don’t think it will happen in my lifetime, because the damage that was done, there aint no feminist or professor or psychotherapist, anti-male or not, out there who is going to fix it. Pride prevents people from saying “I am sorry” and from correcting mistakes. Pride destroys people and hurts relationships and marriages. And people who ask for help after swallowing whatever the current agenda is of the university industrial complex (= corporate America) often get kicked in the teeth by prideful revengeful people who have an agenda, whether it be political, financial or whatever. It’s all about money and politics, greed, and it’s always the honest sincere people who get crapped on, male AND female.

And the nice guys will get kicked in the teeth every time and end up the losers. Maybe if I acted like a total prick, things would have been better.
