I note in your first post that this client is 26 years old, yet later in another post you say how much you want to help this "kid". A 26 year old is not a kid, she is an adult who needs to know that she has choices and can make choices. That’s just another way psychotherapists can abuse clients, treat them like children and act like parents instead of paid professionals. When psychotherapists act like mommies and daddies and big sisters, etc, they completely deteriorate the therapeutic relationship, lose thier theraputic sense of self, and harm clients and the clients therapy. My advice, if that’s how the original poster sees her client, is to terminate the therapeutic relationship and refer the client to a more mature or professional or stable psychotherapist who is qualified to treat PTSD, which it appears the original poster is ill qualified to do.
