It is an interesting dialogue as far as how far back do we remember, and even if we dont remember something because we were too young might it be that we are still influenced by the effects, maybe even physical effects on the brain, of something that happened way before we can remember. Personally, I just dont think an infants brain is developed enough to have and hold specific memories of infancy. Neither do I think we "reason" about what happens to us in a way like "I am bad because I didnt get my diaper changed". However, I do think that things that wound an infants sense of safety, and getting needs fulfilled can leave lasting wounds or scars. Those can come out in different ways later, maybe as differences in brain structure which we see with certain learning disorders for instance. I would assume that adults who has those kinds of early but lasting wounds might be more susceptible to depressive or anxiety disorders later. As far as taking everything a person says as their absolute truth, I wonder, do you also completely validate the truth of a totally delusional schizophrenic? I personally think that when people has a "personal truth" that is totally contrary to objective truth, or to "mainstream" truth, then it is a good thing to gently encourage some questioning of that "truth". Just my two cents of course, Da Friendly Puter Tech
