In my job we are trained to use NVCI(Non-violent Crisis Intervention)..a hold is done as a "last resort"..if the client is in danger of hurting himself or someone else..and should not last long at all..the hold we use is safe...and again..it is after everything else has been done to diffuse the situation before a client experiences a "melt-down".
