I feel so bad that youreceived such a cold, unfeeling answer to your questions. Speaking as a professional therapist of many years, I frequently hug patients and after over 20 years have never received a complaint. A Therapist should be able to sense who and when a person needs some unconditional caring. I tru to provide an atmosphere where people can express themselves in a non-judgmental atmosphere, probably for the first time in your life. Once you have learned to trust the therapist and know he/she is truly tuned to not just what you are saying but how you are feeling, the two of you can then begin to work on specific issues with the goal being eventually for you to be able to recognize yourself whatever thoughts and behaviors are affecting your mental health. I truly hope you can find this person. I, too, live in a remote, rural community and I know how difficul it is to find the right person. My best suggestion is to ask other people who been in therapy for a recommendation and/or if that is hard for you to do, listen to othe people and soner or later a name will emerge. Good Luck!!!!
