You are in luck... The May/June 2001 issue of Poets & Writers Magazine (a publication you must suscribe to as an aspiring writer) features a special section on writing as a healing art. These eight excellent essays will answer many of your questions (for example,Goddard College in Vermont has a Transformative Language Arts Program).
As a writer who's recently had some success, and a therapist, I'd like to add this advice: pursue your creative writing with writers, not therapists. The field of social work can provide with great material, but writers are the ones who will show you how to write about it.
Join a local writing workshop (you can find a good one by word of mouth). Go to literary readings, and read Poets & Writers.
I look forward to reading your work some day.
