The work and process of Frida Kahlo comes to mind, intensely personal work that focussed on themes related to a crippling accident she had as a young woman, her infertility and her relationship struggles with her husband. Whether she would describe herself as using her art for therapeutic purposes is another story, and she's not around to ask. I think many, if not most, artists use their work at times to express or resolve emotional concerns. This is probably a controversial statement to some artists out there, and there are probably many for whom art is mostly an intellectual experience.
