Vick, Your compliments for my posting are much appreciated. Given how much I admire the way you go about using Affect Theory and writing so clearly on it as well as your genial and often humorous ways of presenting things, your compliment means a lot to me. It is gratifying to begin to feel I’m getting a handle on Affect Theory. About six years ago I believed Tomkins’s theory might forever elude me. You guys at SSTI are great in helping to make that no longer my belief. Although I do think it’s still going to take many more years to get a satisfying sense of mastery, and I suspect huge parts of Tomkins’s theory, since it is such a rich and extensive theory, may remian more or less out of reach.
Your pyramid model is superb, exciting, and very memorable. It’s really neat. And your example with your wife’s shoes is no doubt so familiar, and thus very useful, to everyone, I suspect. Thanks for an unforgettable, interesting, and most practical posting. ........................................
