In his book, IN AND OUT THE GRABAGE PAIL, Perls wrote: Fertile void, speak through me Let me be in grace Let a blessed true me See you face to face What did Perls mean by this quote? What is "Fertile void", if not God? Or, the Spirituality within oneself by way of one's Soul? The accessing of which was the initial purpose of the term Psychology, or so I believe. Grace is fairly universal in that it is "given" to Man from God. A "true me" must refer to Perls sans ego (or one's attachments to illusion), don't you suppose? And, finally, was not Perls recognizing the existence of an esoteric reality in suggesting that he could see it "face to face"? How then all this talk about "cognitive" and "behavior"? How long will the Left-Hemisphere dominant rule Gestalt? Isn't it time for those Spiritually in tune with Perls to assume some backbone and begin to dominate the practice, the discourse, the training, and determining who is and is not capable of practicing Gestal Psychotherapy? I would certainly hope so.
