As a therapist who has trained in both EMDR and Cognitive Behavioural Techniques and has published studies in both areas, I have found that both treatments help people with problems in this area. That is the good news. Also they are not incompatible. I find it useful to combine the procedures. Most of my clients now get this combination which I have found works faster than either procedure on its own. It also helps those peolpe who for whatever reasons had not responded to the single focused treatment.
