I suffer from dysthymia and am scheduled for my first treatment of EMDR in 2 weeks. I have no majorly traumatic events in my past, rather just a series of bad, deeply rooted thought patterns about myself and life which I can't seem to get on top of, coupled with a genetic makeup which leans toward depression/dysthymia from my mother's side of the family. Can EMDR help a much more subtle depression or should I be looking in another direction for relief from this chronic depression?
