The only reason I can imagine for you to think that is a rather ill informed book review written by a hypnotist. EMDR is nothing like hypnosis. The person is fully aware, awake, and it has often been described as "de-hypnosis" because of how resistant to undue suggestion the person is. Take a look at my paperback book "EMDR." You will see transcripts of actual sessions that should put your mind to rest.
