    Childhood Fears and Aggression
    JIAN · 5/2/00 at 5:24 pm ET

I have a 5 year old daugher, adopted at one year of age from an orphanage in China. Her first years experience is unknown, other than that it was an impoverished area; she was severely malnourished; and probably severely neglected.

She has exhibited certain fears and behaviours from one year, including being at first terrified and then overconcerned with crying infants; terror of dogs, squirrels, and birds; and aggressiveness towards children less mature and/or smaller than she.

We have begun therapy using EMDR, and I would like to hear about anyone's experiences with it for this age child, and/or for dealing with unknown trauma or the underlying reason behing these fears and aggressions.
