Hi, sorry you have so much fear, I'm sure you have good reason and have been very brave all this time. If you have big scary bags of pain and memories, it is very important that before anyone does EMDR with you, that person should see whether you have a dissociative disorder (I'm not saying you do, I don't know. Simply that they have to check first). If you do, you should only have EMDR from someone who knows how to do EMDR specifically for people with dissociative disorders, and only after the necessary preparations are made. These include making sure the mixed emotions inside will permit you to proceed with EMDR. If all that is done, EMDR can make a huge difference in the lives of people with big bags of pain, whether or not they have dissociative disorders. Deep inside, your ability to heal and survive will help guide your decisions about whether the time is right for EMDR for you. If you feel you are not ready, maybe you need more information about the EMDR therapist's experience with people with severe trauma histories before it feels safe to proceed. Good luck on your road to healing.
