Once again I agree with you. There are people with transient internet "phase", and I do beleive the users are a heterogenous group of people. I guess the common denomination for a chronic internet "addict" would be along the lines of "..feeling special in someone's eyes...", or "...sexual outlet..." I do beleive both to be existing to various degrees on these cases. In reference to my previous notes, especially the sexual outlet theory holds strong. The annonymous nature of the interactive cybersexual experience allows all sorts of latent paraphillic, abnormal, or even otherwise normal sexuality to surface. But this brings us to an interesting point. Just as VIAGRA surprized everyone by the sheer number of requests to their primary care physicians (meaning many were suffering without having reported it to their MDs), the sexual outlet on the net makes one wonder if in fact, more people (than expected) are sexually repressed or paraphillic. I beleive the growth of cyber sexual sites and cyber sexual relathionships are testament to that theory. One can also look at "personal" classifieds, or the "user created" private room's titles to see the orientation or extension of the paraphillia/repression. It is very interesting. I beleive our society is much more sexually repressed and paraphillic than we think it is. It may partly be due to the prevalence and fear of HIV that many have turned their attention to the "safe" cyber sex!
Once again, thanks for your replies. Always appreciated.
