I agree. Words do say a lot, and perhaps a better approach to answering this question lies in the individuality of the average Internet user. Again, it's a distinction, but for all people it's a different thing. This is what's so hard to pinpoint about the "reality" of the Internet: Countless numbers of people from all over the world log on from dark rooms, offices, and computer labs, all coming on to interact, research, play, create, you name it. Because of the privacy, the options are many.
In my travels I have seen the whole spectrum, from people who don't take it seriously at all and entertain themselves at the expense of others (much like the new trend of shock jocks on the radio), to people who are so serious about the net that they spend their days divided between work, sleep, and the Internet.
So my point is (finally)...even in the physical world, isn't "real" in the mind of the beholder?
