PSYCHOLOGY OF CYBERSPACE

    gender balance on the 'net

I recently wrote a grad paper about gender linguistics in online chat rooms. I noticed that there are 2/3 more women than men who participate in gender-masking. Then I remembered that I heard, a long time ago, that "there are 2/3 more men than women on the internet" - and now I wonder: 1) where did that statistic come from and 2) how was it derived? E-mail me, please. T.L. Kelly, room101@teleport.com. Thank you.
