I am not sure of the dates and my primary library is at my office and I keep forgetting to look. But as I recall, Freud was at first interested in Adler's approach because of his ideas about organ inferiority which supported to some extent Freud's theory of Oedipal Complex. I believe Freud did see the issue of inferiority from within the perspective of Oedipal Conflict, Castration Anxiety, and other Phallic issues which is much more restricted and limited than Adler's use of the term. One place to look would be the "The Individual Psychology of Alfred Adler," edited by Heinz and Rowena Ansbacher. It is a very good introduction to the theory (not so much technique). It is much easier to read this than directly from Adler's texts. He talks in circles often. I understand he was a better speaker than a writer. The Ansbacher book groups his writings from various sources by topic. It is much more convenient and easy to follow. Craig
