Any exaggerate rigid behavior is an example of an unhealthy inferiority compensation based in self-interest rather than social interest. Being cocky and over-confident are only problems if they are rigid self-perceptions used to distance self from others. I have known very well adjusted and flexible persons who also have indomitable spirits and are gregarious, creative, and generous. I would not say "cocky" but they are more confident than most. The confidence comes from seeing the world as equals. Some are jealous of their spirit and ascribe several unkind labels to them unjustly. Different solutions for the inferiority complex, one leading to confidence and action through equality and cooperation and the other through self-interest and a goal of admiration. Craig
