re: How overlooked, and yet astonishing Adler's theories are
Robert Kimes, Senior Psychology Undergraduate Student · 04/08/01 at 2:16 ET

In studying different approaches to Counseling and Psychotherapy, the one that most intrigues me ( and coincidentally and biasedly I have done a project with) is Adlerian therapy. I read a translated copy of Adler's original work Psychotherapy and Individual Psychology and I was completely amazed by the amount of foresight that Adler had into many of today's prevalent social problems. In my own personal experiences with severe anxiety, I've applied many of Adler's concepts to my life with some slow improvement. I feel like Adler was very much on the mark when he posited that most of humanity is born with an innate inferiority complex. Why the need for those cocky, overconfident people, if we are not afraid that we are inferior to other people? If you feel you can answer me that question in another way, please feel free to contact me at rlk3df@mizzou.edu.
