Harold, B-cognition does not imply inactivity, only an ability to detach perception from personal utility. Perceiving something for its own essence is an active, outgoing movement. My knowledge of Zen is minimal. However, it appears to me that the Zen belief in the rejection of rational thought, seems to avoid an awareness of the consequences of one's actions. I would question the sense of interpersonal responsibility. Dr. Stein
