Since a positive change in the style of life normally requires considerable encouragement and deep insight, it seems unlikely that a trauma would achieve a positive change. Certainly, negative change from trauma is possible, as in a transition from neurotic to psychotic functioning. This issue is discussed in "The Individual Psychology of Alfred Adler," edited by Heinz and Rowena Ansbacher.
