Ed, I appreciate the very thorough description of your therapeutic method, but I'd rather not offer a critique on the basis of that information. I prefer to establish a good working relationship, preferably in person, or at least by telephone, before venturing to evaluate a colleagues work. The ideal opportunity would be to watch a therapist work.
We frequently hold training groups where therapists can demonstrate their techniques with other therapists who are role-playing clients; the group and I then offer our feedback. It is also a safe opportunity for therapists to experiment and stretch beyond their usual approach to clients.
I sense that you might benefit from exploring Adler's ideas in greater depth and then compare them to your current therapeutic approach. He offers a vigorously optimistic philosophy of living that can be a constant source of inspiration, and a therapeutic model that can stimulate optimal client development.
