Craig, Another perspective would be to mirror his behavior with "positive allegations," rumors of invented good deeds that have come "through the grapevine." i.e, "I heard yesterday that you helped ...... with ....... . That was very considerate." Or a variation might be, "I heard yesterday that you helped ...... with ....... . Was that true?" This permits both of you to play the same "game of pretending" with contrasting intentions. However, there is a element of risk in this approach, so it would be important to evaluate his style of life, and his ability to deal with this playful strategy. Henry
