Dave, One other thought. Before I signed off, I serendipitiously opened one of your earlier postings. You mentioned that you experienced marvelous results using meditation to control ADD. I happened to have a husband who also is ADD impaired. I think that you benefit from the discipline of Buddhist meditation. Being in the moment. My husband always feels less scattered when he decides to, of all things, diet. He attributes the change to elimination of allergy producing foods, black pepper, ginger, and garlic, you know those allergies that are detected by a less-than-well-accepted blood test. I long ago ceased cooking with those ingredients. So, he can't really blame his scattered mind on food. I attribute his increased ablitity to focus, on increased discipline, and just feeling better from a healthy diet. But, it's hard for him to acknowledge that, avoidance, out of touch with feelings on his part. On the other hand, he enjoys the type of meditation that we do, but it doesn't manifest the profound change in him that I experience. I've experienced devastating trauma and loss. I am a tremendously disciplined person. I benefit from a different phenomena brought about by meditation. He grew up as a Christian Scientist. Knowing the truth is what it's all about. However, I also know first hand from living with him that you have to be very careful about truth v Truth. He can find all sorts of truths to reinforce what he wants to believe. Result, avoidance and a scattered mind. You have to get down into what you really feel, from my experience, to learn the Truth, and acceptance of Truth brings about profound emotional changes. Often, that's only possible, with my traumatized mind, by accessing a higher consciousness, or at least a different one.
